Age is a guide for the body length of the rash vest which will be in proportion to a child of average build and height for that age - please take a practical approach when ordering  - for instance if you have a very tall 12 year old with a small chest the rashy is unlikely to be long enough in the body . If in doubt we are more than happy to give advice.
